2. Data Quality Information
2.1 Attribute Accuracy
2.1.1 Attribute Accuracy Report: This map was created by linking 7
USGS 1:100,000 scale DLG files and eliminating all boundary lines
(DLG files:ze1.hyf05,ze1.hyf06,ze3.hyf01,ze3.hyf02,ze3.hyf05,
rh4.hyf04 and rh4.hyf08). Minimal edgematching was done when necessary
to correct for inconsistancies visible after the DLG sections were
joined. Some attribute values were added and some were shifted to
different attribute columns, to enable better use in ArcView without
loss of origional USGS data values. See BIGCODE.HTM 2.4.3 for a complete
explanation of USGS attribute accuracy. All attribute information
contained in this map was deleted, along with interior land features
to create an outline of the county's shoreline and northern boundary.
The northern county boundary line was digitized at UVA from 1:24,000 USGS
quadrangle maps, 7.5 minute series (topographic). the sections used
were Jamesville, Exmore, Nassawadox and Quinby Inlet, VA.
All data above this line was deleted from the coverage.

2.5.2 Process Step
2.5.2.1 Process Description: Information obtained from
USGS DLGs online Server(www.usgs.gov). The DLG sections used for
this coverage were listed at
http://edcftp.cr.usgs.gov/pub/data/DLG/100K
The DLGs were converted using DLGARC. JOINITEM was used to link
DLG major and minor codes as attributes in the ARC coverages.
APPEND was used to unite the seven coverages, then boundary
boxes were removed. Minimal EDGEMATCHing was done to correct
inconsistancies between sections (automatically, using
EDGEMATCH and manually, in ARCEDIT).

2.5.2.1 Process Description: The northern county boundary was
digitized at UVA from USGS 1:24,000-scale QUADs. This line was
then combined with the DLG using GET in Arcedit. All information
above this line was then deleted.

2.5.2 Process Step
2.5.2.1 Process Description: Existing attributes were used to
isolate all arcs which represented shoreline. All other arcs were
deleted. This included internal land features such as streams,
and tidal flats which were idedtified as being on the ocean side
of the shoreline. A paper copy of the 1:100,000-scale map was
used by the processor to visually verify this outline. The northern
county line was coded as "no_data" and preserved along with the
shoreline to create the outline.

State Plane, NAD83 using PROJECT and EXPORTed (compression NONE)
for use on a PC.(Some descriptive attribute information is not
readily interchangable between systems.) Another version was

and EXPORTed (compression FULL).
