This was an exciting year for information management at Hubbard Brook. In June we had a NSF mid-cycle site review and we received high marks for information management. The review team was impressed with the level at which principal investigators are involved in setting policy, designing the website, and dealing with other information management issues. They also praised the structure of information management at Hubbard Brook which consists of a steering committee, referred to as the Information Oversight Committee (IOC), that is comprised of three working groups (information management, web page, and outreach). These working groups deal with special issues related to information management. The review team also identified areas of improvement. Specifically, they suggested that more information management planning should be done at the beginning of a research project rather than toward the end of a project. They also suggested that the exact geographic coordinates for all past and present projects be recorded using a GPS. Plans are currently being developed to implement these suggestions over the coming year.

We have recently made progress with our field station connectivity, following a major setback. Two months after a connection was established, the network service provider that was hired went bankrupt. We recently hired another (better known) company and expect to be reconnected within the next 20 days. Once this connection is established we will move our web site to the new server.
